Timelapse (4D) seismic over some producing fields: Sharing TotalEnergies’ experiences
This presentation gives a short overview of Timelapse (4D) seismic potential over a few case studies from TotalEnergies’ portfolio of assets. It shall begin with a brief introduction of basic concepts of 4D seismic; some of TotalEnergies’ 4D seismic related activities over the years as well as an overview of some published methods and workflows on 4D seismic. Some examples of application of 4D seismic in clastic and carbonate fields, as well as its use in a geomechanical context will be given, and finally conclude with a reflection that 4D is a transverse subject where many disciplines are involved.

After graduating from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife & Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Adeoye joined the deep-water exploration team of Total E&P Nigeria Limited as an exploration geophysicist in 2007. From there, he moved on to a Development/Reservoir Geophysics position in an integrated asset team still in Nigeria. In 2013, he joined the 4D Seismic monitoring team in the TotalEnergies Technical center (CSTJF) in Pau, France for 2.5 years, and afterwards moved to the Seismic Processing and Imaging Team for another 2.5 years. In 2017, he returned to Nigeria, eventually becoming Head of Geology & Geophysics of a deep-water asset. Hereturned to CSTJF, Pau France to head the 4D Seismic monitoring team in Pau in 2019 and today, leads the Seismic Characterisation and Monitoring team at TotalEnergies CSTJF Pau working on various seismic characterization and (timelapse) monitoring projects globally spread across clastics, carbonates, unconventionals and CCS contexts.
